The Profound Hubble Telescope !

Hubble's Past, present, and hereafter are Significant and kinda cool !!!

The Hubble Space Telescope or HST is a   Spyglass that was launched on April 24. 1990 into earth's low earth orbit to explore the outer space in a superior way...Named in kudos of astronomer Edwin Hubble...

It was the first space telescope 🔭 hovering about 574 kilometers above the Earth surface….

It's been a long way from unrevealing mysteries...providing us with the darkest riddles of the universe.... but still in operation !!!

Primarily conceived in the 1940s and initially called the Large Space Telescope, the Hubble Space Telescope took decades of planning and research before it launched in the 1990s….

Hubble was set off in a legendary rocket i.e. Discovery, from Kennedy Space Centre, Launch-Pad 39-B !!

but it looks sick in time-lapse ...

Hubble's Fundamentals...

 >The length of Hubble is 43.5 feet/13.2 meters ...is almost the size of a double-decker bus !!

>it weighs 24,500 pounds/11 tones & 110 kilograms

>Hubble has a Mirror of 2.4 meters/7.9 feet with a lens of approximately 2.4 meters...  Holy Cow !!!

> and now...last but not the least....it costs 2.5 billion USD !!!

>Hubble is a type of telescope known as a Cassegrain Reflector…(i.e. Light hits the telescope's main mirror...elaborated below...)

-----------------------

Hubble is a type of telescope known as a Cassegrain Reflector…Light hits the telescope's main mirror, or primary mirror…

Telescopes actually, work by collecting more light than the human eye can capture on its own. The larger a telescope's mirror, the more light it can collect, and the better its vision.

It has recorded some of the most detailed visible-light images, allowing a deep view into space.

Many Hubble observations have led to breakthroughs in astrophysics, such as determining the rate of expansion of the universe and so soo on..!!

some of the discoveries are mentioned here...

Eagle's nebula

Carina Nebula

Saturn' Aurora

And many more...!!!

Inside Hubble...

Hubble's six cameras and sensors see visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light, visible,   and near-infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.

At the heart of Hubble is its 8-foot-diameter or 2.4 meters primary mirror.

Instead of a solid core, Hubble's primary mirror has a honeycomb core, reducing its weight from 8,000 pounds (3,636 kg) to 1,800 pounds (818 kg). Both mirrors are coated with thin layers of aluminum and magnesium fluoride which is astounding !!!

(Hubble uses two mirrors, laid out in a Cassegrain telescope design, to collect and focus light. After light travels down the length of the telescope, it hits the concave, or bowl-shaped, primary mirror)

It was so finely polished that if you scaled it to be the diameter of the Earth, you would not find a bump more than 6 inches tall.
here's a quick comparison

Some of the Hubble-like guys are Chandra X-ray Observatory, Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, Spitzer Space Telescope, etc.

-----------------

wanna see Hubble

Hubble is best seen from areas of the Earth that are between the latitudes of 28.5 degrees north and 28.5 degrees south. This is because Hubble's course is inclined to the equator at 28.5 degrees

Remember Hubble’s circling the earth  15 times a day

Until then .....share this blog...and even read and mop-up the knowledge from other posts
thank you...have a good day ahead
